I am a level 7 trained, UKCP registered and insured integrative psychotherapist (SCoPEd band C). My core modality is person-centred/humanistic as this is natural to me and how I value others. Inclusivity and individuality are further key aspects of my therapeutic work, valuing intersectionality and the phenomenological uniqueness of every person.
Having completed an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling. I am qualified and experienced in existential, psychodynamic, gestalt, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialogical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) object relations and attachment approaches. I believe in working collaboratively with clients to build a healing relationship together.
I value intersectionality and the belief that there are many different aspects to our personalities and unique life experiences, which lead us to be the diverse individuals we are.
This may include aspects like gender identity, ethnicity, sexuality, social status, abilities (including disability, neurodiversity, learning difficulties and mental health issues), age, faith and religious beliefs and relationship diversity. These combined with our individual experiences of acceptance and discrimination shape who we are and how we experience life.
It is important to welcome all of these aspects into a safe, supportive and accepting therapeutic space.
I have a trauma-informed practice, which seeks to understand the impact of trauma on people's lives.
A trauma-informed approach is not asking ‘what’s wrong with you?’, instead it is exploring ‘what happened to you’ to understand why you feel the way you do.
A trauma-informed practice aims to empower individuals, not judging, blaming or shaming you for how you feel.
